About Us
We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples.
First Christian Church was founded upon the principles set forth in the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement. This was a group who got fed up with traditions and creeds dictating what they believed and decided to look to no other authority than the Bible. Their goal was not to start a new denomination but to bring Biblical-based unity to the existing church body.
Here are some noteworthy phrases used within the Christian Church.
-
Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent.
-
In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty; and in all things, love.
-
We are not the only Christians, but we are Christians only.
-
No creed but Christ.
Vision: Transforming our world through Jesus.
Mission: Love God. Love People. Make Disciples.
Our Core Values
-
God's WordWe value God’s Word as the final authority in all matters of faith and lifestyle. We believe God’s Word is without error and breathed directly from God to mankind for the purposes He set forth in II Timothy 3:16-17 that says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” At FCC, we will preach and teach the truth of God’s Word, in context, whether it’s popular or not because it’s the truth that sets us free.
-
MinistryWe value ministry that encourages us to grow more and more into the image of Christ, (Matthew 28:19-20) that teaches us to use our gifts to serve Jesus and His body (Ephesians 4:16), and that leads us to love the hurting, vulnerable, and those in need of the hope Christ offers (James 1:27).
-
WorshipWe value worship as we seek to offer our lives 24/7 in worship to Jesus (Romans 12:1-2). We also are committed to the model of the early church found in the Bible where they were devoted to the Word of God (apostles’ teaching), fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42).
-
FamilyWe value family in several different facets here at FCC. First, we believe God designed the family unit as a training ground for ministry. We believe in ministering to the whole family while equipping the parents and grandparents to be the primary teachers for their children and grandchildren (Deuteronomy 6:1-9). Second, we believe the church is the family of God that each person needs in their life for accountability and encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25). Third, we want to be family for those without a family by teaching and encouraging in the same manner as Paul in the early church (I Corinthians 4:14-15).
-
GenerosityWe value generosity because we have been blessed by a generous God. Whether we’re talking about our possessions, money, or our time, we believe God made us to be generous givers as we seek to make a difference in this world. God has made us managers of His resources and it is our heart to generously give back to Him to lead others into a relationship with Christ (Malachi 3:7-10, II Corinthians 9:6-8).
-
Cultural RelevanceWe value cultural relevance in our approach to ministry. There’s an anonymous quote that says, “The message (the truth of God’s Word) must never change, but the methods will always change.” We will always proclaim God’s Word in context, but the methods may look differently at times as we seek to meet people where they are in their faith walk (I Corinthians 9:19-23, Acts 17:16-34).
-
Authenticity & ExcellenceWe value authenticity & excellence. We will seek to be authentic and real while also doing everything with a sense of excellence, because we know it’s all done for God’s glory (Colossians 3:23-24).
